"U" Welcoming table

The “U” Welcoming Table is conceived around the Germanic U-shaped summer symbol, traditionally drawn as a bowl representing the earth receiving the sun’s warmth, and expresses this idea through three components that reinterpret the original form in distinct materials. A terracotta stand anchors the piece to the ground, embodying earth in its most literal and tactile state, while above it a woven wicker basket—an inherently welcoming and familiar object—introduces softness, warmth, and domesticity. Completing the composition, a wooden tabletop unfolds like a flower turning toward the sun, symbolizing the earth opening to absorb light and energy, and uniting the three elements into a poetic and material narrative. Developed as a limited-series project, the table attracted the interest of leading Belgrade furniture venues, resulting in exclusive proposals from Enviro and the Shamitza furniture showroom.
